For When Accurate Data Matters Most

Nitrate is a “primary contaminant” under the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water and Clean Water Acts. Phosphate measurement is required by many NPDES permits. Both nitrate and phosphate are important plant nutrients, but cause serious problems when too much ends up in our water. The US EPA has set the maximum allowable level for nitrate at 10.0ppm Nitrate-N.

Various multi-laboratory validation studies have been conducted comparing the performance of the nitrate reductase method for nitrate-n analysis. These rigorous validation studies have resulted in approval of the enzymatic method for regulatory compliance reporting for laboratories using methods dictated by agencies such as the U.S. EPA, ASTM International, U.S. Geological Survey, and Standard Methods.

The enzymatic nitrate-n analysis method using nitrate reductase has been verified for accuracy, precision, and sensitivity to provide a robust and trusted method for regulated commercial laboratories worldwide. The nitrate reductase method is designed in multiple formats for a wide range of applications - manual test tube, microplate, automated instruments, simplified on-site, and more.
