Citizen Science Collage

Choose Enzymes for Your Next Citizen Science Project or Home Analysis for Reliable Results

Our on-site test kits are simplified versions of our validated laboratory methods, pre-measured and pre-calculated so that once samples are collected, testing is a breeze. Our new handheld photometer interfaces with mobile Android devices, so you can take the lab with you. Easily share and upload data for a collaborative study with the confidence that data collected is reliable and accurate.

Nitrate is a “primary contaminant” under the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water and Clean Water Acts. Excess nitrate – more than 10 ppm (ten milligrams per liter) is considered toxic to infants and many young animals. Excess nitrate or phosphate disrupts the environment, leading to algal blooms in fresh or salt water. Homeowners with shallow wells, dug wells, or wells with damaged or leaking casings should be most concerned with nitrate contamination, although it is recommended that anyone drinking well water monitor their water regularly for nitrate levels. NECi’s reagents for Labs are quantitative and cost effective. NECi’s Test-it-Yourself kits offer unbeatable accuracy. Try test kits for spot checks and lab reagents for compliance monitoring.

INTRODUCING OUR HANDHELD PHOTOMETER

INCREASED ACCURACY

NECi's handheld photometer accepts flat-sided cuvettes that are used in laboratory spectrophotometer analysis. Competitors' colorimeters and photometers are usually only compatible with round vials that distort light and therefore compromise accuracy. When compared side-by-side to an analytical benchtop spectrophotometer, NECi's handheld photometer provides accurate and reliable results.

EASY TRACKING AND SHARING OF DATA

Our handheld photometer sends data to mobile Android devices via Bluetooth technology for convenient storage of data on your device. Easy one-step export of data as CSV file for convenient analysis and collaboration of data.

CONVENIENT GPS AND COLLECTION TIME TRACKING

Map out where and when samples were collected with GPS location and time stamping. Don't spend time writing down and manually transferring data, the mobile app tracks it for you!

HIGH SENSITIVITY

Low detection limits even in complex samples. Our Low Range Water Nitrate Test Kits are formulated to accurately measure down to 0.05 ppm Nitrate-N, and we've adapted our method to detect even lower levels, just ask!

LESS INTERFERENCES

Nitrate Reductase accurately measures nitrate + nitrite in brackish water, wastewater, well water, and more. Complex matrices and samples containing humics, organics, sulfate, salt, chlorine are easily measured using Nitrate Reductase. Our new phosphate assay also offers minimal interferences.

MINIMAL SAMPLE PREP

Once samples are collected, testing is a breeze. Solid samples are prepared in a simple water extraction, and water samples are ready to analyze!

HIGHLY SELECTIVE

Enzymes only react with their substrate, meaning that false positives and false negatives are not a concern. They target the analyte even in complex mixtures.

SUPERIOR STABILITY

Our enzymes are optimized for reagent stability, whether it's in the laboratory or in the field. They're designed to work within the range of standard room temperatures and are stable in solution for a full working day.

NATURAL SPECIFICITY

Enzymes are characteristic of a specific 3-D conformational shape, enabling them to only allow specific molecules to react with their binding site. This specificity eliminates potential interferences.

SAFE FOR USERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Nitrate reductase is important in the nitrogen pathway in nearly all plants, most fungi, and some bacteria - including the leafy greens in salads that we eat. Most enzymes are harmless - they react under gentle conditions and are safe for handling, shipping, and disposal.

RECOMBINANT RELIABILITY

All of NECi's enzymes are guaranteed to be reagent grade, made in our lab with strict QA/QC procedures. Recombinant protein design enables lot-to-lot consistency, making every batch of enzyme truly analytical-grade and reliable for accurate analysis.
