PROFESSOR WILBUR “BILL” H. CAMPBELL (1945-2022)
NECi co-founder, world class biochemist, enzyme designer, and protein purifier
Bill held a Ph.D. in Philosophy, taught biochemistry at Michigan Technological University, was on the editorial board of The Journal of Biological Chemistry from 2000 to 2005, and has published over 100 scientific journal articles from his research. Bill retired from teaching to co-found NECi Superior Enzymes with his wife, Ellen. NECi is working hard to continue his legacy by turning more of his inventiveness out into the world as practical products.

ELLEN R. CAMPBELL
Ellen is head in charge for all things company strategy, business development and financial management. She's an expert in proposal preparation, marketing strategy, and following industry trends. She and her husband Bill co-founded NECi in 1993 to commercialize nitrate reductase to make nitrate testing safer, more accurate and reliable. Ellen holds a BS in chemistry from The New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, has previous experience working with monoclonal antibodies, and has set up and directed commercial and academic biochemistry labs.
LABORATORY MANAGER
TROY KINNUNEN-SKIDMORE
Troy has been with NECi since 1995, running day to day operations, performing assay development, ensuring products pass our internal quality control measures, and so much more. Troy earned his B.S. in Zoology from Northern Michigan University and fell in love with the Upper Peninsula winters. When he's not in the lab, you can find him cross-country skiing, road biking, or exploring the wilderness.

DR. AIMEE MARCEAU
Dr. Marceau is our Ph.D. Microbiologist. Aimee’s roles at NECi include grant writing, helping direct scientific research, and helping with enzyme production. She holds a B.A. in Biology from Skidmore College and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin. Aimee completed a post-doc in Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In her free time, Aimee hikes, plays soccer, and travels.
RESEARCH SCIENTIST
KENNY LARSEN
Kenny works on developing new applications for NECi patented enzymes and furthering research. Kenny holds Bachelor’s Degrees in French and Geology, a Masters in Environmental Engineering Science (Michigan Tech), and is currently completing his Ph. D. in Environmental Engineering at Michigan Tech. When he’s not working, Kenny enjoys cross-country skiing, running, biking, swimming, sailing and gardening. He loves exploring and experiencing nature and learning about the natural world.

CONNOR HENSLEY
Connor Hensley assists NECi with enzyme production, product development, and order processing. He holds a B.S. and an M.S in Chemistry from Michigan Tech and enjoys backpacking, cooking, and gardening.

ALEISTER KERR
Aleiser is testing our oxygen removal enzyme system! He holds a Bachelor of Physics and is currently in grad school working with nanotechnology, mostly quantum dots. He enjoys reading and taking walks.

LILY VENABLE
Lily Venable assists with digital marketing, photography and design for NECi, with the vision of clean water and a healthy earth at the forefront. Lily enjoys being creatively involved within the community of Keweenaw, from food co-ops to beekeeping clubs to art galleries, and when she’s not doing that, loves to spend time outdoors with her son, Felix.
